Connor's Birthday Party

Connor has had an amazing birthday! He has clearly adopted his mom's policy which is "My birthday is not just a day....it's an EVENT" and has decided to celebrate all week long. Friday night was supposed to be the Father/Son Stake camp-out and it was cancelled due to bad weather. This after I had sent my little boy to bed with visions of hiking, sleeping in a tent and roasting marshmallows dancing in his head. Who was going to tell Connor it was cancelled? Apparently his best buddy Grayson's family felt the same way. Luckily, their family cabin was available so the two dads and the two boys went off to the woods to brave the cold and still have a great experience! Special thanks to Grayson and his dad for saving the day!

The next day was Connor's party. This year he wanted a Go Diego Go! theme. He insisted on wearing his Diego shirt (which is too small - I can't believe I didn't think to get him a new one!) and all the kids (and a few of the grown-ups) wore safari hats! We had brats, hot dogs, pasta salad and fruit. Yum!

After eating we had a special surprise. Since Diego is an animal rescuer, we had Lorien from Wild Things come and do a presentation on some animals! We met a Lorakeet, a Blue Tongued Skink (which is a lizard that looks like a snake with legs - well, they all kind of do but this was even more lizard-that-looks-like-a-snake-with-legsish), a Sugar Glider named Bitty (Connor got to feed her a worm!), Hildegard the Hedgehog (who quite frankly, was a big "pooper" -thank goodness for the tarp on the carpet) and a Lioneared Rabbit ! Everyone got to touch them and learn about them. It was soooo cool! Thanks Wild Things!!

Finally, after opening all his cool presents, we enjoyed a cupcake cake with Diego and Baby Jaguar on them. Everyone had fun and we are so happy to have our amazing 4 year old Connor!!
