Birthday Fun

Here are a few pictures from Connor's birthday party! We started the festivities at the Riverton Arts Festival, where mom had a gig....but Connor was much more interested in the bounces houses and giant sand box then listening to the band. That's okay, he can hear her any old time! So we took the party back to our house and had a BBQ with some of the guest of honor's requested menu (asked for: hambungers - not typ-o, actual pronunciation - hot dogs, cheesy rice, strawberries, watermelon and ketchup. actual menu: hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, jello salad, chips, strawberries and watermelon - close enough - and yes, there was plenty of ketchup on hand). Connor got so many presents it's ridonkulous. There is a pretty funny story about squeezing cheeks you can ask me about or read Angela's blog - though it is 1000 times funnier if she tells it. Then it was time for cake - chocolate (of course, you are thinking, because mom is in charge of this party - well you are right, but Connor did ask for it too - after a little prompting) with Movie Car (Lightening McQueen) and Mater on it. He had all "Cars" themed decorations, including balloons that are still floating around the house. He stayed up late and had a wonderful day! Can't believe my baby is 3!!! Such a big boy!!!

Happy Birthday!

Today my little miracle is 3 years old! I will love you always and all ways, precious boy!!

Easter is long gone, but it doesn't matter.....
And that when you are feeling heavy hearted and discouraged because that little spirit you are so sure is out there, just continues to elude you....

March of Dimes

The kids at Connor's school have been encouraged to raise money for the March of Dimes. They were each given a container, kind of the size of personal size milk carton to fill up. Connor and I filled his up and I explained to him that the money was for sick babies. And that we do this because we are so grateful that he only got sick a couple of times when he was a baby, and for just a little while. He is totally down with this. He is even more down with the fact that if he brings his carton back full, he gets to participate in the "Wonder Walk". Well, today was the big day! Connor returned his carton before the deadline and asked me all morning if I would do the wonder walk with him (such an honor!). Turns out it isn't so much of a walk, as an obstacle course (I am pooped) but anything to help the sick babies. First and foremost, you must apparently don a funny hat:
Then you participate in a tricycle track ride, crawl through tunnels, run back and forth with balls and put them in boxes, crawl up and down an obstacle course and run through a maze (that's right folks, you GET to do all this as part of your reward!) Finally, you get to get a tatoo! After filling his carton for sick babies and gamely running through the "wonder" walk (it's a wonder you survive) for a prize consisting of crackers, water and a free sundae at Artic Circle (the latter not being so bad a prize), my proudest mother's moment came when the "tatoo" artist asked Con what he wanted and he chose....sniff sniff.....a GUITAR!!! (He even asked for a green one, in honor of my bandmate's awesome green guitar.) I am completely stoked! He may look just like his dad, but I'm definitely in there somewhere! It was a great day, though. Good for you little man!

Another Performance Date

Wow! We are really working it this month! We were just asked to play for the Daybreak (the housing development) Concert Series on May 30th, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. We will be playing for an hour, so a nice short one (nice after back to back gigs this week-end - we are atomically pooped) in a nice setting. There will be two other bands as well, so a great chance to get out and hear some local talent. I will provide more details as they come - be sure to check the upcoming performances on the right of the blog.

AND a HUGE thanks to those of you who came out and supported us at the Zoo...Marcy, Ray and the kids, my homegirl Marcie & Awesome and the kids, Pearl Jam and Trilian, Mom and Dad Pehrson, Audrey & Liz (who me thinks has a crush on our guitar player - very cute!, Joni and Olivia, Michelle & Brooke (who came from the Race for the Cure - thanks Brooke for wearing my mom's name!), the cute Willey & Nagles/Sims families, Kirsten & Joanna and her family....gosh? I hope I am not forgetting anyone!! If so, slap me a line and I will do an amendment! It as a great day, rather a zoo at the Zoo, but you braved it anyway! THANKS!!!

Last Minute Reminder

Okay, REALLY last minute! We are at the Zoo today, from 10:00 - 1:00...you can still get your T-shirts at the Zoo (in fact that's where we are playing) so come and bring your child into the wild! (or husband/boyfriend/mom/friend/stranger off the street)
