A Friday Smile

Just in case you need a reason to smile....besides that it's Friday....besides your plans to come see us at the Utah Peace Jam tomorrow....besides the fact that it's great to just be.....here's my reason:

Utah Peace Jam

This Saturday, my acoustic group (still trying to find a new name, for now Leo Ego) will be playing at an awesome event called the Utah Peace Jam. We are kicking the event off and will be the first band performing, starting at 12:00 p.m. This is a great event! There will be 5 or 6 groups playing and in between sets there will be prayers, chants and meditations for peace. There will also be a community drum circle at 6:00 p.m. for those who want to get your percussion on and let out your inner drummer!!! My "brother" Gary Stoddard will also be performing (and is helping to coordinate the event) who is my former bandmate from Slickrock Gypsies - just a shout out to this incredible multi-hyphanate....singer, songwriter, musician (I have lost track of how many instruments he plays!) and writer of children's musicals! He is awesome and will be playing at 5:00 - if you can't make it to hear us, you should give him a listen...we would love to see anyone and everyone out for the jam for peace!!

Also, thank you to those who came out to the Avenues....we had many sound issues on stage, but apparently things were all good out in the audience! And as Craig says, no charges were filed!!!

Happy Birthday...

Today would have been my dad's 87th birthday (and a cool one at that..09/09/09). So Happy Birthday Daddy (and Grandpa) I miss you more than I will ever have the words to express. I wish so very very much that you were here.

Are in order...FINALLY some good news in the air....

-To my niece Cassandra who got engaged yesterday to her cutie patootie John! And how nice to get proposed to on your birthday!!

-To my friends Erica and Stephen who brought home an adorable little boy, Skylar...their third adoption miracle! And so cool that Erica got to be in the delivery room! Exta blessing....

Street Fair Coming Up

Happy Labor Day everyone! Just a reminder that the Atomic Amy Avenues Street Fair gig is this Saturday. We have put our set list together and are doing some new stuff along with some old...should be good. We are also "headlining" so we got the 5:00 spot, on the West Stage - 9th Avenue between D and I streets. Afterwards, I am excited to go and have a BBQ with the boys...a chance to relax after all these months of hustling and hard work. I sure appreciate the Spent Rods, who always remind me to focus on the MUSIC, even when things are falling down all around you!! (Including, like at our last gig, the very stage!)

Oh, and a little Connor side note: When Connor and Lonny came home from church today, I was trying to explain to Connor that he needed his nap. He started to get really upset and insist that he should be able to watch ONE Dora. As I walked him to his bedroom, I was trying to soothe him (and distract him) and kept asking him what he did at nursery and how was singing time (which he loves). He finally said "I DON'T want to talk about that right now! I want to watch ONE Dora!" I am pleased to say, that I did get him into bed without Dora. But it was really close. I had to keep burying my face in my arm to keep from laughing!
