Latest from the Little Man!

Just a couple of new Connorisms for you, because they are too cute not to share.

He loves to crawl on the bed and have me tell him about when he was born. I tell him that he grew in his birthmommy's tummy and when he got too big, it was time for him to come out. He seems to kind of get this and loves to repeat back what I tell him. However the other night:

C: I grew in birthmommy's tummy and then when I got too big, I came out.
A: That's right!
C: Well, how did I get in her tummy? Did she EAT me?
A: Um, LONNY!!!

Now he knows that Heavenly Father put him in there. Thanks Lon! Nice save....

We are still in the midst of the potty training stuff. Yesterday I put him in some big boy underwear, Cars-themed, no less but he peed in them. Later in his pull-up. He sensed my displeasure:

C: Mommy, are you happy?
A: Well, not right now. I love you so much but I am unhappy that you went potty in your pants twice today. Why did you do that?
C: (looking up at me with those big brown eyes) Cause I'm just a little boy.
Heart melts, big hug ensues, Mom feels like schmuck. Child now free to pee his pants until he's 50.

Perfect Timing

I have been feeling a bit sorry for myself as of late.....having some personal struggles including, but not limited to: being asked to write about our failed adoption and what we have found helpful as to trying to heal (ha! again I say Ha!) and not getting a job that I interviewed for (and losing out to someone with less experience - ouch!) and having a birthday recently in which I turned...well, never mind. I know that writing about the experience is designed to help, both me and potential couples who have the same thing happen to them. I know that I didn't get the job because it wasn't the right one and well, there's nothing I can do about the latter. I know when God closes one window, He opens a door (though I am thinking there has been a mix up and mine has been sealed shut) - I know these things. But sometimes, it is more fun to pout.

Two things have happened though, to put a smile on my face (this is ONLY if you don't count the love and support of friends, though it is related!) ONE: I discoverd chocolate drizzled caramel covered popcorn from The Popcorn Factory. This was a birthday gift from the Alaska Eight and I can't stop talking (or thinking) about it. It's a perfect blend of salty, sweet and OH MY WOW! that you must try. Thank you so much Alaska!

TWO: I had the happy happenstance of reading Ginnie's blog today on the Fail Blog (although her post called Oh Toe You Di'nt is pretty funny too). If you are looking for some giggles check it out. I am still laughing! And waiting, cause I know my proverbial sun will come out any minute!

Got Guitar? Got Love!

I am honored to share with you a blog of a different sort, that of Immortal Guitars. My beautiful, talented-beyond-belief "family" members, Mike and Elaine are in the business of making guitars. I can never find words to fully do these masterworks justice and am pleased to introduce you to http://www.immortalguitars.blogspot.com/. You can see first hand the amazing work that they do. If you know anyone who is a guitar enthusiast, please pass this blog along to them.

And to Mike and Elaine, my beloved friends, thank you for your ears, your music and your love. I love you so much more than I can say.

And to Steph for admonishing me to update my blog, thank you for your big old heart, your advice, for making me laugh and for making me think about someone other than my broken-hearted self for at least 10 minutes. Thank you for all your support sweet sister.

I would be nothing without you!!!

The Money Shot

Just got back from Southern California! I packed my bags and left the boys at home for a whole week (and yes, the potty training suffered, an eensy beensy bit, but we are getting back on track). It was an amazing experience in which I reconnected with old friends and got back to my roots. When I was growing up, our neighbors, the Morris family, was my second family. So I got to see my "other" mom, "sister" Kate and Jon and his beautiful daughters (I am a sorta auntie! LOVE you Natalie and Olivia!), friends from high school (special holla to Ed and Julie mmmmwah!) ....but most of all my beloved Jimmy, who I love madly and without reason or question. I have missed him terribly and cannot remember laughing that hard in a long time (a couple of times, I thought I blew something out in my head and would have to go to the hospital....got a friend like that?). I feel very rested (thanks to time spent in the sun by the pool and at my beautiful Huntington Beach) and yet it was a total whirlwind of activity (and yes, I ate too much).

Unfortunately, our camera is on it's last legs and failed to function for me at critical times. So most of my memories are all locked in my head. But I got the one that I wanted most of all...me and Jim. He has been my best friend since I was 6 and he was 5. Isn't he gorgeous?

It is good to be back though. I missed the boys terribly and I can't express how my heart leapt when I saw both of them at the bottom of the escalator. Especially the one who kept saying "Mommy...mommy" and kept touching my face to make sure I was real. I will always, always be a California girl at heart, but it sure was good to come home.

Put on Your Thinking Caps

Time to get creative! Leo Ego has decided we are fed up with our name. We need something new...so I am putting out a call for band name ideas! To give you a little background, we are a trio of Leos (Hey! Leo Trio! See how easy it is?) so that's how we came up with the former name. However Blythe occasionally sits in with us when she is visiting from NoCal - and she is a Leo too! We play acoustic classic rock with some originals thrown in. There is guitar (sometimes even mandolin or banjo), bass and conga. See if you can come up with something so Mike, Elaine and I can have a decent name that's easy to remember and fun to say. Get those juices flowin'!!!

Psssst!

Don't anyone get too excited....but Connor has been going pee-pee on the poty for a solid week! Now he gets to have King's Trailer (from the "Cars" collection, but of course). High times at our house. I can't stop smiling!

My Heart Goes Out...

to my cute friends whose adoption plan has fallen through. You are loved, so loved. Adoption is a discouraging road at times, and I know all too well how you are feeling - we just experienced disappointment in the last few days ourselves. A call for prayers for my beautiful friend. My heart is aching for you.
